Ashwa Pooja, the festival of the worship of the horse

Today was Ashwa Pooja, the festival of the worship of the horse.

Ashwa Pooja happens on the ninth day of the Navratra festival, also known as Navratri, and is considered to be one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu Calendar.

While the 9-day Navratra festival is dedicated to the goddess Durga, Ashwa Pooja celebrates the relationship between Rajput warriors and their Marwari horses on whom they depended on to win battles but also for their survival. Ashwa Pooja also celebrates Shashtra, which were weapons used during the war.
